Like many of you I believe that our work days deserve to be as fulfilling, meaningful and enjoyable as every other aspect of our lives. Living for the weekend is not my idea of a life. So I have created this online space where you can learn to create and grow a business built around your needs and build business network to support you along the way.

Hello Cape Town...it's me again! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 'A community is a group of people who decide to grow together' says Simon Sinek and I couldn't agree more! In fact I wish it was my name behind that quote because the Nomads & Co. community is all about the support and helping each other grow in our businesses. We are lucky that networking, collaborating and finding inspiring business besties is just a natural byproduct of the being part of the community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In Joburg it started with 1 person believing in the spirit of community and realising we don't have to walk this journey alone (thank you Hanneke of digitsaccoutning for being that 1 as we are going on to 30 awesome Joburg members) I was lucky that in Cape Town last month our first meet-up started with 6! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I just touched down in CT and welcome you to join me tomorrow at our second meet-up tomorrow as we continue to grow the community, grow our business and grow the conversation of support over competition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having 30 entrepreneurs to engage with daily online and monthly checking in, is like having your very own personal resource library and guide to running a small business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our community meet-ups are the my monthly refuel and check in that tells me, you can do this! The Ultimate Cape Town Work-away Get-away. 👓 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3 Weeks ago I set off on a 3-day working trip and my first official Nomads & Co. visit to Cape Town to connect, grow to build our mother city N&C community meet-ups. ✈️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had Nomads alum member @thegreatequalizerpodcast for company and we decided to base ourselves in fabulous Sea Point. This meant we had access to the beautiful promenade for walking and running and without us realising we turned this little work-away into the ultimate productivity, networking and wellbeing break-away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We were amazed at how much we were getting done but then soon realised, as working moms, getting 3 days away from our daily routine meant that we actually got to work all 8 hours of an 8 hour working day. No school runs, no sorting out dinner. We were given the gif of time to only focus on our business and wellbeing. It was fabulous 💻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I came home feeling 1. Caught up on work...(when does that ever happen?) as I spend all Monday on that to-do-list I just never get to. 2. A pocket full of brand new connections and business friends from our CT meet-up and connecting with IG friends. 3. Felt that my personal soul was as much catered for as my business soul because of a good dose of fresh Atlantic sea breeze and views plus who doesn't love spending time at the amazing array of bars, cafés, eateries and artisanal shops. ☕️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll be doing short fly-in- and- out stops into Cape Town for our March meet-up next week but if you are interested in joining me for upcoming work-aways in April, May or June for a work-away get-away we can make it happen. Hello Autumn 🍂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It might still just be a change of date as the weather is still pretty much as hot as it was yesterday but I look forward to cooler days non the less. The sky is already turning a different kind of blue so I know it's happening. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💻 Working from home I really do struggle with the weather extremes. Our house is not insulated and as an environmentally sensitive worker, those balmy hot days makes for a really unproductive me. Which is why, me and my business, relish in the shoulder seasons. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍁 I love autumn colours, it's also my birthday season, wedding anniversary and my daughter's birthday season too. Lots of public holidays, which can be a good or bad thing but it's good to take breaks. And I look forward to a few coming up. Autumn inspires me and I hope to see my business flourish during this time too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍹 Of course I will miss summer, especially warm evenings spent sipping on G&T's and white wine on the patio with the windows and doors flung open until late at night. But every season has their time and I am ready for autumn to arrive. The Feb Challenge: Entrepreneur Self Love ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❤️ February is not only known as the month of love around the world but also notoriously as the month when depression levels sky-rocket. Not because people find themselves without a Valentine but because it's usually the month when you realise that those well-intentioned new year's resolutions and life goals hasn't paid off in the way you envisioned back in Jan. But it's crazy and unrealistic the high expectations we set ourselves, especially when you run your own business. Can you really bring about life-affirming changes in our health, minds, personal lives and business in 4 short weeks. Common give yourself another chance....be real, change doesn't happen overnight, it takes time. It's gradual and slow. Don't give up now! 👊🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🗣 So to try an overcome the February 'I failed' blues I want to challenge you to share with us an achievement no matter how big or small, personal or work-related, that you accomplished. It can even be a good new habit or breaking a really bad one. Share it in the comments, create a post or story in your own feed to share with your community and followers that you are proud to celebrate you and to inspire others that they should too. Don’t forget to tag me so I can follow your posts🍾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌸I would love to share mine with you. A year ago exactly I was diagnosed with insulin resistance. Due to stress I was suffering from Adrenal Fatigue. I gained 10kg in 6 months after my first business closed. After my diagnosis my doctor encouraged me that insulin resistance can be reversed before it reaches diabetes (my dad died from health complications due to Type 2 diabetes) through exercise, medication, diet and working on reducing my stress levels (you know, that balance thing I keep hammering on about). The Good Vibes Only Effect - A New blog post ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am about to head out to our first community Meet-up for 2019. I love our meet-ups, as an extrovert who needs regular engagement with others but who mostly works from home, I always leave with a buzz, good vibes and renewed energy and confidence that I can do this thing of running your own business. I also get to to do 2 of my favourites things at these meet-ups, drink coffee (my love language) and hang out and get to know incredible smart, creative, innovative and kind like-minded folks ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I try my best but it's really hard to describe exactly what it's like to be part of Nomads & Co.
